Risinghurst and Sandhills Parish Council

Risinghurst and Sandhills Civil Parish lies to the north east of Oxford City and includes the Risinghurst estate, the Sandhills estate, part of Wood Farm and part of the Quarry area including the Stansfeld site.

Risinghurst and Sandhills Parish Council is part of the local government system. It is consulted by the City Council for comments on planning applications and by the County Council on highway issues. Representatives of the City and County Councils usually attend the parish meetings. The Parish Clerk is the main contact for any parish queries.

The Parish Council owns and maintains three play areas: Downside Dip, Richard’s Way teenage play area and the Dr Olive Jacks’ field. In addition, the Council also owns the playing field area located between Grovelands Road and the Nielsens’ site. This playing field area includes a well maintained cricket pitch, rough field area, woodland and sports pavilion. The Council also lease out the allotments site in Richards Way. Small grants are awarded to local groups and organisations.

The Councillors meet once a month, on the third Thursday of each month (excluding August). Meetings are usually held in the Risinghurst Community Centre starting at 7:00pm (see the contact page for map). Any member of the public is welcome to participate at the start of the meeting and raise an issue with the council and/or to sit in on any meeting to observe the Parish Council in action. Please contact the Parish Clerk for details. Agendas and Minutes are posted on the parish noticeboards. Previous Meeting Minutes can be found here.
